Look forward to seeing it. Link me up once ya done!
n***as be jealous of your game
I'm getting really angry reading the comments on science blog :/.
"sleazily dishonest creationists?
my worldview remains intact"
"motherfucking insidious bastards.
well, it's obvious not ALL of them are complete morons, though it's still the case that all of them are sleazy, underhanded, bastards."
Really? I bet half of these people didn't even play the game. Everyone is entitled to their own views but to hold such strong prejudice against a group of people is pretty wrong. And then they go and apply those judgments to someone they don't even know, just because someone who wrote a blog misinterpreted a game.
Very true. Oh well. Any press is good press.
IT'S AGAINST BABY JESUS' TEACHINGS AND YOUR GAME MUST BE PURGED FROM EVERY CONTINENT OF THE EARTH AND I'LL DESTROY THE INTERNET IF I HAVE TO
That seems like a valid point?
Yeah you totally make baby Jesus cry
the people who link this game with creationism just because of the way things are put in the cell (dropping in organelles) clearly dont understand the basis of videogames and the deus ex machina writing that is needed to suspend the disbelief of people who wish to play it. of course its wrong for people to think that organelles are "poofed" into existence, thats not how it works as far as i know. But its also wrong to genuinely believe that platypus' can talk and come from a different planet.
i thought this game proved that they did come from a different planet?!?! everything i know is a lie!
The really bad thing about the blog is that normally (from what I've witnessed) the owner or writer of a blog post updates their post with a comment from the people that they are criticising, so as to fairly represent - especially if the criticised individuals' viewpoints have been misrepresented.
I don't see that on the Pharyngula blog, so CellCraft is still getting comments from people who haven't seen the actual facts of the matter (there are a lot of posts to dig through for the comments from Anthony after all, you can hardly blame some of the comment writers) - such refusal from a blog writer to acknowledge the other side of the argument is just insulting.
Thankfully, I see that Lars got the first comment on the GeekDad, so that must have cleared up a few misconceptions there.
Yeah. We had a good team put together for this with different backgrounds and views which worked out nicely to bring something pretty cool together.

Ha. Love it! I just sent it to everyone on the team. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
DOWN WITH LiLg AND HIS CREATIONIST AGENDA! Great for some lawls...
Amazing how they say it's creationist when in fact making a game element complex enough to show the creation of every single part of a cell would be a ridiculous scope to make a game in. And far less fun to play I'm sure.
I guess scientist types will get pissed if you are not exactly 100% accurate in a game no mater what you do. Hell, all I get on my games is average users complaining about them. You have DOCTORS and SCIENTISTS complaining about yours, you have reached a new frontier of pissing people off while making them have fun without realizing it and I commend you!
Ha. I've never thought of it that way. It's a great outlook though.
I really enjoyed your game, I'm definitely going to recommend this to my biology teacher. Are you going to make any more games like this? About tissues and organs maybe? If only you had made the game two years ago, learning about cells would've been more fun with animations and all.
I enjoyed the game a lot... didn't beat the last level yet.
Anyway, After I had read all those coments on the above blogs... how stupid they are, making a simple logical error... called extrapolation. Also, it's easy to fire up an old debate GOD x Science , being it ID or w.e. we may call it. Religion is an individual view, and science is in benefit of the whole global community (There are exceptions hehe), but all that matter is teach some bio in a fun way! Why always need to be a boring educational game?
And that PZ guy should try at least to play it before saying a shit about games, he should one of those nerd guys that never get laid. LOL
To everyone who even bothered to give the game negative publicity (and also to SquizofrenicCat) : Grow up. Seriously. It's just a harmless opinion, and you don't even know if there IS a god. None of us do. Just RESPECT OPINION, AND OPINION RESPECT YOU!(god is a direct reference to creationism for those who are unsure)
@lilg: I'm thinkin about playin cellcraft just to see what its like, and from what i hear, its gonna be a huge test of patience from the slow cell movement. (i'll bet your intention of making cellcraft is the same as most of the flash on teh internets: entertainment, no more.)
entertain and educate. Not push beliefs.
Hey, the first link gave you some positive feedback: your game is intelligently designed, which is to say, it's well-programmed, and he said that it's miseducational, which is to say, it's not educational, and that's a good thing: I'm not gonna play a game that tries to teach me something--certainly not on Newgrounds, dammit.
wrong and wrong. look up Intelligent design on Google to see what it is. As far as the non-educational thing, that was the main reason we made the game. So, if you played it and enjoyed it then kudos to you because it's meant to be fun and educational.
Eh, I had fun with it. It reminded me of just how much I retained from biology.
Though it really warms my heart to know that trolls and haters come from all walks of life. :P
Ha. Beyond true. These people hating on the game have Ph.Ds!
I've only scratched the surface of CellCraft, and I'm finding it quite entertaining! Its unfortunate that the opposing viewpoints in the scientific community had to bring their agendas over and try to label your game as one or the other. Luckily, from reading the threads on those pages above it looks like you have plenty of knowledgeable people (who happen to be gamers), who understand that its just a game, and a unique learning tool. And yes, even bad press is good press.
I applaud what you and your team have done here. Its rare to find a game that has that perfect ratio of entertainment to learning value; not too dry as to become boring, and not too arcade-like to draw the player's attention away from the subject at hand. The overall production values are just fantastic, one can really tell that a lot of time and effort was put into this.
Maybe for your next game you guys could explain the basics of string theory! A weave your own universe sort of thing! =)
Keep up the good work!
Umm... Cellcraft was made just to pass time. Not to teach.
I'm more of a science/math/english person myself, and I found no problem with your game... All the people saying bullshit about creationist agendas and conspiracies can't comprehend the purpose of a game, which is to have fun :\. On another note, the game was pretty accurate on the inner-workings of a cell; And if this game supports anything, it sure as hell isn't creation... More like.. An alien conspiracy theory.. Great Game, 9/10, -1 for that asshole robot xD.

In all truth, I didn't really like the game. That cell moves sooooo slow. Everything else is all right to me, but I couldn't stand the cell's movement. I know you were trying to teach us about how cells do stuff and all and they move slow, but I just got frustrated. Guess that's my own fault though. :P Anyway, hope to see Reincarnation 3 soon!
LiLg
Ha. I agree it does move slow. I'm hoping to have another Reincarnation out before August.
